Fisher Cats fall to Thunder, 11-3

Manchester, NH- Trenton broke open a close game with 7 runs in the eighth and ninth innings, beating New Hampshire 11-3 Thursday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. The Thunder (33-18) salvaged the final game of the series from the Fisher Cats (27-22) after two walk-off wins for New Hampshire the past two nights.

New Hampshire had early leads of 1-0, on Chip Cannon's 7th home run of the season, and 2-1 on a Sergio Santos RBI single off winning pitcher Jeff Marquez (7-3).

Trenton moved in front for good in the fourth with two runs off losing pitcher David Purcey (3-4) on RBI hits from Noah Hall and Justin Christian.

The Thunder had a 4-3 lead in the 7th after New Hampshire's David Smith scored on a wild pitch.

Trenton then added a run in the 8th to make it 5-3, and tacked on 6 runs on 7 hits in the 9th inning to break the game open. Gabe Lopez led the Thunder attack, going 4-for-4 with a hit by pitch. Carlos Mendoza, P.J. Pilittere and Noah Hall drove in three runs each.

New Hampshire opens the longest roadtrip of the season tomorrow night at 6:35pm in New Britain. RHP Kyle Yates (2-2, 4.04) will start for the Fisher Cats against Rock Cat right hander Brad Baker (2-2, 4.11). Radio coverage begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network (610-AM-Manchester; 930-AM-Rochester; 1540-AM-Rochester) with Bob Lipman and Mike Murphy.
