NEWS AND NOTES

ROAD WARRIORS:The Portland Sea Dogs have five straight road games, and look for their first series sweep of the season on Thursday morning against the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium...Portland's last 3-game sweep on the road was August 22-24, 2014 at New Hampshire...Last night was the 'Dogs' first win when the opponent scored first and their first one-run win on the road...The Sea Dogs have won nine of 13 since May 15th, picking up 5.5 games on first-place New Britain.

THEY WIN A THRILLER: Jorge Marban stranded two runners in the ninth inning, fanning Jared King to end the game, giving Portland a 3-2 win over the B-Mets...Portland beat Major Leaguer Dillon Gee, who allowed 3 runs (2 earned) over 6.1 IP...William Cuevas (6-2) worked six innings, allowing one hit, one run, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts to earn the win...Portland tied the game in the third inning on a run-scoring single from Marco Hernandez...Aneury Tavarez snapped a 1-1 tie with a two-out RBI double off Gee in the fourth...Jantzen Witte added an RBI single in the seventh.
