MANCHESTER, N.H. - After a whirlwind of an affair on Wednesday night, Thursday's finale against the Reading Fightin Phils had drama of a different flavor for the Fisher Cats. Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, K.C. Hobson blasted a game-tying home run, and then the Fightin Phils committed an error that allowed the winning run to score for a 4-3 Fisher Cats win.

Reading took the lead in the top of the ninth against Wil Browning (W; 1-0) when Aaron Altherr doubled, and then later scored on a single by Brodie Green for a 3-2 Reading lead. The Phils had a chance to deliver the knock-out blow, but Tony Thomas bounced into a double play with the bases loaded to keep the game at a one-run margin.

In the bottom of the inning, staring at a five-game losing streak, Hobson and the Fisher Cats came to life. The first baseman led off the frame with a towering home run to right center against relief pitcher Reinier Roibal (L; 0-1). A Cole Garner singled followed before Pierce Rankin laid down a sacrifice bunt.

After an intentional walk put runners at first and second, the Phils went to reliever Colton Murray to get the final two outs. He retired Ronald Torreyes on a fly ball to right, but Ian Parmley followed with a hard grounder to first that was misplayed by Brock Stassi to allow the winning run to score.

The Fisher Cats scored three of their four runs in the game with two outs, including run-scoring hits by Jorge Flores in the third and Parmley in the fifth. Both Flores and Parmley finished the night with two hits each.

On the pitching front, Matt Boyd gave the bullpen a much-needed break. The league-leader in ERA coming into the game, Boyd went seven innings and allowed just two runs on four hits. He took a no-decision after leaving in a 2-2 game.

Over two starts on the stand, Boyd was 1-0 and allowed just three runs and 7 hits over 14 innings of work. He remains the league leader with a 1.23 ERA and 58 strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats now head on the road for a weekend series with New Britain starting Friday night at 6:35 p.m. Right Casey Lawrence gets the ball in the series opener for his fourth start against the Rock Cats. Radio coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. with Ben Gellman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.

The Fisher Cats return to Manchester on Tuesday night for the start of a six-game homestand that features two Atlas Fireworks shows, two mid-week day games, and a hat giveaway on Sunday. Tickets are available at www.nhfishercats.com.
