BINGHAMTON, NY - Aderlin Rodriguez delivered a two-run double in the sixth to push the Binghamton Mets past the Portland Sea Dogs, 2-0, in front of a sold-out crowd at NYSEG Stadium on Thursday morning. Luis Cessa combined with two relievers to toss Binghamton's fourth shutout of the year, snapping Binghamton's four game losing streak.

The struggles continued for Binghamton's offense in the opening innings. After opening the game with two singles, a Jayce Boyd double play ended the threat. Binghamton would strand two more in the second and another in the third.

Justin Haley settled in, retiring eight of the next nine batters he faced.

Cessa scattered three hits through his six innings, all coming with two outs in an inning. He retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced.

After trading zeroes, the B-Mets broke through on Haley in the sixth. Jayce Boyd began the inning with a double. Dustin Lawley then reached base when an infield pop up dropped between two Portland infielders. With men on the corners, the next batter, Aderlin Rodriguez, doubled to the gap in left-center field to drive in two runs. The B-Mets would strand two more in the inning.

Chase Huchingson came on in the seventh and struck out the side. The southpaw then put two on to begin the eighth inning, walking and hitting a man. With two on and nobody out, Huchingson induced a 5-4-3 double play from Danny Bethea. Marco Hernadez then popped out to end the threat.

Paul Sewald pitched around two singles in the ninth to notch his eighth save of the year. After a two out single, Sewald got Aneury Tavarez to foul out to third to snap Binghamton's four game losing streak.

Cessa (4-3) got the win, allowing three hits over six shutout innings. He struck out four without issuing a walk. Haley (1-6) took the loss, allowing two runs and nine hits in five-plus innings. Sewald picked up his eighth save in nine tries.

The B-Mets (25-22) head to Altoona to begin a three game series with the Curve Friday night at 6:00 PM. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show can be heard starting at 5:45 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and the Binghamton Mets channel on TuneIn.

POSTGAME NOTES: The B-Mets are 5-for-36 (.139) with men in scoring position in their last five games...The crowd of 6,216 was Binghamton's largest since July 3, 2012...Jayce Boyd has reached in 25 straight games, the longest active streak in the Eastern League.
