NEWS AND NOTES

LET'S PLAY TWO, TAKE TWO: The Portland Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) attempt a doubleheader for the second consecutive day to close out a four-game series...The two teams were scheduled to play two games last night, but the second game was postponed due to rain...Portland is 2-2 on the trip, and have won four of five in Binghamton this season...Following tomorrow's off-day, the 'Dogs open up a six-game homestand on Tuesday night against Richmond.

LATE HOMER WINS IT: Trailing 7-5 entering the seventh inning, Joey Curletta smacked a three-run homer, giving the 'Dogs an 8-7 win in the opener of a doubleheader (game two was postponed)...Portland trailed 5-1 after one inning and 6-1 after four...Bobby Dalbec continued his torrid pace, hitting two homers for the second straight day, and Josh Tobias finished 3-for-4 with a 3-run homer in the fifth...Brian Ellington (2-0) earned the win and Matthew Gorst earned the save.
