Wilmington Sea Dawgs News Release

Wilmington, NC. The ABA Wilmington Sea Dawgs team name, logo and mascot concept were presented at a news conference at the Schwartz Center on the Cape Fear Community College.

The Sea Dawgs, which is the new Wilmington-based ABA professional basketball team, is scheduled to play its inaugural 2006-2007 season starting in November at Cape Fear Community College.

Kevin Whitted, Head Coach of the new team, along with Mark Janas, another co-owner of the team, presided over the event. Initial media kits were distributed and are now available by request.

"We were thrilled with the response leading up to our news conference," said Whitted. "Gauging from the initial enthusiastic feedback we have received, we are confident that the Sea Dawgs will have a home in Wilmington for a long time to come."

The next planned event for the Sea Dawgs is a two-day free agent tryout that has been scheduled for Saturday, July 29th and 30th. The Sea Dawgs have also launched its website: www.wilmingtonseadawgs.com. New information will be posted weekly.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
