Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Springfield, MA. The Springfield Slam, the host team of the Greater Springfield Pro Am Basketball League (GSPABL), is scheduled to play an exhibition game against the ABA's Cape Cod Frenzy. The Slam, who are currently 2-3 in the GSPABL, feature local players such as Russ and Pat Martin, Division II All American John Williams, and forward Albert Hale, a four year captain at Emmanuel College.
The Cape Cod Frenzy are fresh off a decisive 147-122 Championship victory in the Mass Arts Premiere Pro Exposure Summer League. The Frenzy are led by former McDonald's All American Scott Hazelton, former UMass Boston Guard James Hall and forward Rich Pittman. The Frenzy also knocked off Boston Celtics forward Ryan Gomes' team last Wednesday 125-100 en route to the championship.
"We are excited about being invited to participate in such a quality event as the GSPABL," explained Frenzy GM Ian McCarthy. "We are looking forward to this exhibition game as well as possibly fielding a team for next summer in the league."
The game between the Slam and the Frenzy is set for Tuesday, August 1st at 745pm. For more information, please contact Tony Pettaway at tpettaway@juno.com or visit www.leaguelineup.com/gspabl, or contact Ian McCarthy at ian@capecodfrenzy.com or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
