
Scrappers Rally Late for Win

Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
Niles, Ohio - Mahoning Valley came from behind to defeat the State College Spikes, 2-1, at Eastwood Field.
The Scrappers trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but Jerrud Sabourin singled home Jordan Smith with two outs to tie the game at 1-1.
Smith was the hero in the bottom of the ninth, walking with the bases loaded and nobody out to bring home Tony Wolters with the winning run.
Both teams had a number of chances throughout the game. State College left 12 men on base and Mahoning Valley left 15 men on base. The Scrappers had at least one runner on base in eight of the nine innings.
Kyle Petter picked up the win for the Scrappers, improving to 2-0 this season.
The Scrappers have won four games in a row. The series concludes Tuesday night at 7:05 pm before the teams play three games in State College, Pennsylvania.
