Scott Fletcher Assigned To Reading Royals

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that defenseman Scott Fletcher has been assigned to the Reading Royals of the ECHL. With the move, the P-Bruins have 25 players on their roster, including 15 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.

Fletcher, 22, was recalled by Providence from Reading for the second time this season on February 12, since appearing in three games with a plus-three rating. The defenseman has missed Providence's last five games due to injury dating back to February 19. Overall, Fletcher has suited up for 11 P-Bruins games on the year, going scoreless with 27 penalty minutes. With Reading, the rookie has recorded four points (2g, 2a) and 67 PIM in 23 contests.

Prior to turning pro, Fletcher enjoyed five seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, splitting time between the Plymouth Whalers, Niagara IceDogs, Mississauga IceDogs and Saginaw Spirit. In juniors, the undrafted native of Haslett, Michigan, appeared in 236 regular season games with 15 points (2g, 13a) and 632 PIM. Fletcher also suited up for 25 playoff contests, going scoreless with 48 PIM. He signed an AHL contract with Providence on August 11, 2009.

The P-Bruins begin a five-game week with back-to-back outings in British Columbia against the Abbotsford Heat on Tuesday and Wednesday, both games scheduled for 10:30 p.m. on the east coast. The club returns home to host the Manchester Monarchs at 7:05 p.m. on Friday for Sport Bottle Night. Sport bottles are free to the first 2,000 fans.
