Yuma Scorpions News Release

Before we talk about our upcoming games, we want to take a minute to remember one of the most popular players in GBL history.

Jose Lima passed away this morning at the age of 37. GBL CEO Dave Kaval today said:

"It is with great sadness that I write about the untimely death of one of the most exuberant and well loved GBL players of all time. Jose Lima died this morning of an apparent heart attack in Los Angeles. He was currently under contract with the Edmonton Capitals and contemplating joining the team mid season."

For those of you who saw Jose pitch, take a second to remember the fun and exuberance with which he played the game. Jose Lima will be missed by us and by all true baseball fans.

Now, on to the Scorpions. We take on Jose's team, the Edmonton Capitals, tonight at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are 2-for-1, so come on out, have some fun and enjoy one of the last cool nights before the summer heat hits Yuma. The wind is up, the temperature is down - it should make for a fun night at the ballpark!

We finish our three-game series against Edmonton tomorrow and Tuesday with games , also starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday is our first Dollar Dog Night of the season, and Tuesday brings Dollar Dip-n-Dots.

We take on Tucson over the weekend, then we gear up for our first Tijuana Fiesta of the year. Our new division rivals, the Tijuana Cimarrones, roll in to Yuma June 1-3, and we're putting together a real taste of Mexico for these games. Mariachi bands, special contests and music, and more will highlight these games.

Join us at Desert Sun Stadium by calling 257-4700 or visiting www.yumascorpions.net. Also make sure to join our Facebook community - just search for Yuma Scorpions (company) and we'll see you there!
