May 23, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Chico Outlaws News Release

(Tijuana, Mexico) The Chico Outlaws had to wait an extra day to start the 2010 Golden Baseball League season, but it was well worth the wait as the Outlaws started the season off with a bang in a 10-6 victory over the Cimarrones in Tijuana.

The Cimarrones jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Chico stormed back in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 2-1 lead. Tijuana (0-1) was able to answer back with a three-run third inning off Outlaw's starter Mark McLemore to take back the lead at 4-2. Tijuana tacked on two more runs to make it 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

Josh Dew (1-0) came on in the sixth inning for the Outlaws and pitched three scoreless innings in relief, picking up the victory along the way when the Outlaws scored eight runs over the last four innings. The offense was highlighted by a four-run eighth inning. Chico first baseman John Urick connected twice for homeruns, picking up three RBI's. Second baseman Bobby Hill had two hits and a RBI to help pace the Outlaws attack.

Cimarrones outfielder Jackson Melian had a solo home run in a losing effort for Tijuana. Paul Estrada (0-1) took the loss for the Cimarrones.

With Friday's season opener between the two teams delayed due to a stadium technical issue in Tijuana, the two teams will play a twin bill on Sunday starting at 1:00 pm to make up the postponement. Both games of the double-header will be seven-inning contests.

Monday night's game in Tijuana is set for a 7:00 pm first pitch and the series finale is scheduled for Tuesday night at 6:00 pm.

After Tuesday's game, both teams will head to Chico for the Outlaws home opener on Wednesday May 26th, starting at 6:35 pm at Nettleton Stadium.
