Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Former University of Notre Dame winger Peter Schneider and former Canisius College captain Doug Jessey signed ECHL standard player contracts with the Indy Fuel, the team announced Thursday. Both 23 years of age, Schneider and Jessey had been playing for the Fuel on amateur tryout agreements following the conclusion of their respective collegiate careers.
A 5'11", 195 lb. right-handed shooting forward, Schneider has two goals, three points and a +2 rating to his credit in four appearances for the Fuel this season. In four varsity seasons with Notre Dame from 2011 to 2015, the Vienna, Austria native collected 22 goals, 47 points and 76 penalty minutes in 143 career NCAA appearances for the Fighting Irish. Schneider also notched 30 goals, 53 points and a +17 rating in one junior season in Indianapolis as a member of the USHL's Indiana Ice in 2010-11.
A 6'2", 212 lb. right-handed shooting defenseman from Langdon, Alberta, Jessey made his professional debut for the Fuel on March 28th in a 3-2 Indy home victory over the South Carolina Stingrays, a game in which the Fuel halted South Carolina's ECHL-record 23-game winning streak. In four varsity seasons with the Golden Griffins from 2011 to 2015, Jessey registered 12 goals, 46 points and 135 penalty minutes in 152 career NCAA appearances. In three seasons in the junior ranks from 2008 to 2011, Jessey posted 35 goals, 100 points and 256 penalty minutes in 160 combined appearances for the AJHL's Drumheller Dragons and MJAHL's Woodstock Slammers.
