Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lake Elsinore, CA - Rancho Cucamonga's five-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday night, as the Lake Elsinore Storm blanked the Quakes by a score of 2-0 at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore.

Quakes' starter Josh Sborz was brilliant, but got no run support, as the Quakes mustered just four hits in getting shut out for the first time this year.

Sborz retired the first seven batters that he faced but got into a bit of trouble in the third. With one out, Jose Ruiz punched an opposite-field double down the right-field line with one out. After River Stevens fouled out for the second out of the inning, Franchy Cordero singled to left. Quakes' left fielder Andrew Toles fired home but the throw was late on a bang-bang play, with Ruiz scoring to make it 1-0. Luis Urias followed with a slow ground ball off the glove of third baseman Matt Beaty. After the ball squirted off Beaty's glove, it slowly rolled into left field, allowing Cordero to score, making it 2-0.

Sborz (0-1) got through seven full innings, allowing just two runs on five hits, striking out four in the loss.

The Quakes put the lead-off man aboard in both the eighth and the ninth, but couldn't ultimately break through on the Lake Elsinore bullpen. After Jordan Tarsovich opened the eighth with a hit, Kyle McGrath fanned three straight hitters to end the threat. In the ninth, Tim Locastro picked up his second hit of the night to open the frame. A Beaty fly-ball to center field preceded Kyle Garlick's double-play ball, which ended the game against Storm closer Yimmi Brasoban, who recorded his third save of the year.

Trevor Seidenberger (1-0) earned the win with two scoreless frames of relief behind starting pitcher Chris Huffman's four scoreless innings.

Rancho (6-4) will look for three of four in Lake Elsinore on Sunday, sending Trevor Oaks (0-1) to the mound against former big-leaguer Brandon Morrow (0-0) in the series-finale at 1:00pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Thursday, April 21st, as they host the Visalia Rawhide in game one of a four-game home stand. Thursday will be another Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Green-Lite Windows and Doors, as fans will enjoy $2 Pepsi products, $3 domestic drafts and $4 premium drafts throughout the night. Game time on Thursday will be 7:05pm. Tickets are available at (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
