
Sborz Joins Whitecaps; Kown Headed to Lakeland

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Detroit Tigers announced Friday that righthanded pitcher Jay Sborz will be joining the West Michigan Whitecaps from extended spring training. To make room on the roster, righthanded pitcher Andrew Kown will be moving to Lakeland.
Sborz spent part of the 2005 season with the Whitecaps before being sent to Oneonta in late June. During his time with the 'Caps, he posted a 1-1 record in 21 appearances and racked up a 7.90 ERA. In Oneonta, he went 1-3 with a 4.34 ERA.
Kown is currently 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five appearances. He spent all of the 2005 season with the Whitecaps.
