
Sauter Named To Central League's All-Decade 2nd Team

Hardy Sauter, the Head Coach of the Spokane Chiefs, has been named to the Central Hockey League's All-Decade Second Team. While playing for the Oklahoma City Blazers Sauter became the Central League's all-time scoring leader among defenseman earning 290 of his career 669 points during the decade.
Sauter spent 10 seasons playing professionally (1995-2005), nine of those with Oklahoma City. Sauter was a two-time Central Hockey League (CHL) Defenseman of the Year (1996-'97, '97-'98) and is the CHL's all-time leader in all scoring related categories by defensemen. Overall, he ranks in the top 10 in games played (590, 5th), assists (527, 4th) and points (669, 6th). Sauter was an all-star in all nine seasons he played in Oklahoma City. He owns a consecutive games played streak of 347 and played in 590 of a possible 598 games during his Blazers' career.
Sauter served as a Player/Assistant Coach from 2000 through 2004 and then as the Assistant Director of Hockey Operations/Assistant Coach/Player in 2004-05 for the Blazers.
The Maryfield, Saskatchewan native is in his second season as the Chiefs Head Coach after serving as an assistant for the 2007-08 Memorial Cup championship club. His 45 wins last year were the most for any first year head coach in franchise history.

CHIEFS AND TRI-CITY RENEW NEW YEAR'S DATEBROADCAST HEARD ON 105.7 THE PEAK AT 6:30
The Chiefs will travel to Tri-City on New Year's Eve for the 20th time to take on the Americans in their fifth of 12 meetings on the season. Spokane and Tri-City are 2-2 in their previous four games. Spokane won the last match-up 4-1 on November 27th in Kennewick with goals by Tyler Johnson, Jared Cowen, Brenden Kichton and Mitch Wahl. Spokane outshot Tri-City 47-42. Prior to that Tri-City won the previous two games including a 4-3 win on October 24th in the Spokane Arena. Kenton Miller, Matt Marantz and Tyler Johnson, on a shorthanded penalty shot, all scored for Spokane. The Americans picked up a 6-2 win over Spokane on October 3rd in Kennewick. Levko Koper had both of Spokane's goals. Kyle Beach scored two goals and had an assist on September 26th in the Chiefs home opener, a 5-2 Spokane win. Mitch Wahl and Jared Cowen had a goal and an assist and Stefan Ulmer had three helpers in the win. Spokane outshot Tri-City 37-25. In four games, Koper has two goals and five points while Ulmer has five assists to lead Chiefs scorers. Last year, the home team won nine of the 12 match-ups. Spokane won the season series 7-4-0-1 with a 5-1 record at home. In its 21st year of existence the Chiefs lead the series 126-112-1-5 with 13 ties.
