Saskatoon Defeats Everett, 2-1

Everett, WA - In Everett's final game of 2009 the Saskatoon Blades edged out the Silvertips, 2-1. Led by a two goal night from Darian Dziurzynski, Saskatoon outshot Everett 34-20 to earn their 26th win of the season. Kent Simpson had another solid night in net stopping 32 of 34 shots faced to earn the second star of the night. Shane Harper had the lone goal for Everett moving the Silvertips forward to 22 on the season.

Saskatoon scored the first goal of the night just 25 seconds into the game. Dziurzynski found the puck to the right of Kent Simpson on top of the crease before scoring and giving the Blades 1-0 lead.

Harper tied the game at 9:11 of the second period on the power play. Collecting the puck on the high left circle, Harper blasted a hard wrist shot top-shelf past Steven Stanford to tie the game 1-1. The Blades answered over a minute later on the man advantage with Dziurzynski's second goal of the game. Dziurzynski found the puck amongst a scrum to push home a 2-1 Saskatoon lead.

Saskatoon held Everett to just four shots in the third period to hold on and defeat the Silvertips, 2-1.

This brings the 'Tips record to 19-16-2-1 with 41 points in 38 games played. Everett starts off 2010 with a home game this Saturday against the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 and a meeting in Portland this Sunday against the Winterhawks at 5:00 pm.

The Silvertips continue the 2009-2010 season at Comcast Arena on Saturday, January 2nd taking on the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 pm.
