Saskatoon Drops 2nd Straight to Swift Current
September 27, 2008 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
Despite two leads throughout the game including the 1st goal of contest, the Saskatoon Blades could not hold off the Swift Current Broncos offensive charge as they dropped their 2nd straight game to the horsemen by a final score of 4-3..
Blades goals, scored by Derek Hulak, Travis Toomey, and Burke Gallimore (PP), were not enough as the Broncos saw Keegan Dansereau, Eric Doyle, Dillon Wagner, and Matt Tassone slip the puck past goaltender Braden Holtby.
Holtby made his second consecutive start between the pipes for the Blades and turned aside 26 of 30 shots. Meanwhile Broncos goaltender Travis Yonkman left the game due to an injury after just under 7 minutes of action in the first period. Mark Guggenberger came in relief of Yonkman and stopped 26 of 28 shots en route to picking up the victory.
The Blades power play was 1 for 5 on the night while their penalty kill was a perfect 2 for 2.
Saskatoon will now get ready to improve upon their 1-3-0-0 record on Wednesday night when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings. Tickets for the game can be purchased via ticketmaster.ca or by calling 938-7800.
