Santa Cruz Warriors Net First Win in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Bakersfield Jam 111-103 Tuesday night, netting their first win at the Dignity Health Events Center in team history.

Santa Cruz was paced by Cameron Jones and Seth Curry, who each scored 25 points. Curry dished out eight assists, while Jones had a game-high five steals. Dewayne Dedmon logged a double-double with 19 points and a game-high 15 boards, in addition to four steals.

Bakersfield was led by John Jenkins, currently on assignment from the Atlanta Hawks, who scored a game-high 28 points. Dennis Schroder, also on assignment from Atlanta, scored 15 points and had a game-high 11 assists.

The Jam held its largest lead of 15 in the first quarter, but the Warriors outscored Bakersfield 26-14 in the second quarter to take a one-point lead at intermission. The Jam started the second half on a John Jenkins layup to take the lead, but Cameron Jones hit a three-pointer to put the Warriors up 54-52 with 10:34 left in the third and Santa Cruz never looked back. Bakersfield came within seven points in the final minute of the game, but it didn't prove enough and the Warriors won by eight.

Santa Cruz shot 50.6% from the field compared to Bakersfield's 44.9%. The Warriors hit 47.1% of their shots from three, while Bakersfield shot 35.5% from distance. Santa Cruz won the battle of the boards (48-40) and had more steals (14-10), while Bakersfield held the edge on assists (26-23) and committed 18 turnovers to Santa Cruz's 19.
