BAKERSFIELD, December 10, 2013 - A strong start goes to waste as the Bakersfield Jam (3-5) get defeated at home by the Santa Cruz Warriors (5-2), 111-103.

Bakersfield started the game on fire, thanks in part to James Nunnally who scored 12 points in the first quarter on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. The Jam shot 67 percent in that first period, had 10 assists on 14 made field goals and forced Santa Cruz to nine turnovers. However, after holding a 36-25 advantage at the conclusion of the first, Bakersfield fell apart and went cold from the field as they got outscored by 12 in the second quarter (26-14) and by 11 in the third (34-23). The Jam fell behind by as many as 17 points in the final quarter.

John Jenkins had 28 points, six rebounds, five steals and two blocks. Nunnally finished with 24 points (8/15 3FGs) and five assists. Dennis Schröder recorded a double-double of 15 points and a game-high 11 assists, while Mac Koshwal contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Santa Cruz was paced by Cameron Jones (25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals) and Seth Curry (25 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds). Dewayne Dedmon posted a double- double of 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Both teams face each other again on Thursday, December 12 at the Dignity Health Event Center. Tip-off is set at 7:00 p.m. PST.
