The two teams fought a close match with 22 lead changes and 17 ties over the night. The Warriors maintained control through most of the game but never gained more than a 10-point advantage as the Legends fought back. Mavericks assignee Justin Anderson got off to a hot start in the first, shooting 4-of-5 for 9 points to put the Legends within three. With back-to-back shots to open the second, the Warriors grabbed their largest lead of the half-23-30-after a minute of play. Texas took control with 32 seconds on the clock, but a three-point play from Anthony Vereen would put Santa Cruz up by two at the buzzer.
The battle continued in the third quarter with 13 lead changes as the Legends came out firing. Shooting 62%, Texas controlled the momentum and finished with a 7-0 run to enter the final minutes with the advantage. Down by five, Santa Cruz returned the run to re-gain control and held on for 10 minutes, climbing to 2-1 in the season series.
