
Iowa Energy Fall 110-107 in Overtime in Canton

Canton, Ohio - The Iowa Energy (6-3) fell 110-107 to the Canton Charge (3-6) Friday night at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
The Energy were led by Andrew Harrison with a game-high 31 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Terry Whisnant added 24 points and five rebounds and Alex Stepheson posted another double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Michael Dunigan added 25 points and eight rebounds for the Charge.
It was a fast-paced start to the game. Canton held the early lead for the first four minutes before the Energy came back to open a seven-point lead. Harrison led the way for Iowa with 10 points in the quarter. The Energy held a 29-24 advantage heading into the second quarter. It continued to be a close game in the second quarter with two more lead changes and four ties with neither team able to pull ahead. Harrison added six more points to his total for 16 first half points. Canton held a 53-50 lead at halftime.
Andrew Harrison continued to lead the Energy with nine more points in the third. The Energy were able to outscore the Charge 29-24 in the quarter to take a 79-77 lead in a tight ballgame. Whisnant got hot in the fourth quarter, hitting three three-pointers and scoring 13 points to help carry the Energy back from a seven-point deficit in the final minutes of the game. One of Whisnant's threes came in the final :14.0 of the game to give the Energy a three-point lead before Canton would time the game with :9.3 to play. Both teams had a chance to win the game in the final :9.3, but neither team could hit the go-ahead shot and the game went to overtime tied 105-105.
Iowa held the early lead in overtime before a late costly turnover led to a Canton field goal to take a three-point lead. Two late attempts by the Energy to tie were unsuccessful and Canton held on to win 110-107.
The Energy are back in action on the road Saturday night in Fort Wayne at 6 p.m. for game two of a three game road trip. The Energy return home Friday, Dec. 18 for Hoops For Troops Military Appreciation Night.
