Cleveland Charge News Release

The Canton Charge (3-6), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, got the best of the Iowa Energy (6-3), 110-107, in overtime at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Friday night. It was Canton's first extra time game in this young season.

With the game tied at 102-102 and 14.0 seconds left, Iowa's Terry Whisnant hit his fourth triple of the game to pull the visitors ahead for the game's 11th lead change. Coach Jordi drew up a play in the ensuing 20-second timeout that saw Quinn Cook respond with a three-pointer of his own to knot the game at 105-105. After an Energy turnover on the next possession, Canton got a crack to win it in regulation. Jorge Gutierrez's runner was off the mark as time expired, however, to add three minutes of bonus time.

Iowa scored on the opening possession of overtime to pull ahead 107-105. Michael Dunigan drew a foul on the other end, splitting the pair and pulling the Charge within one at 107-106. The Energy turned the ball over on the next possession before D.J. Stephens threw down a monster putback dunk and gave Canton a 108-107 lead. Gutierrez stole the ball on the inbounds almost immediately, dishing to Cook for a layup that would prove to be the game's final score. Iowa couldn't get a clean look off the inbounds with 2.0 seconds left, and the Charge got their third home win in the last four tries.

Dunigan finished with 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, eight boards, and three steals in 39 minutes. Joe Harris netted 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting in 43 minutes on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cook finished with 22 points, five assists, and two steals in 37 minutes. Stephens added 13 points and seven rebounds in 39 minutes.

Andrew Harrison paced Iowa with a game-high 31 points, including 15-of-21 from the free-throw line, seven boards, six assists, and five steals in 49 minutes. Whisnant supplied 24 points and nine rebounds in 41 minutes off the bench. James Ennis scored 15 points and grabbed five boards before fouling out on assignment with the Memphis Grizzlies. Alex Stepheson posted a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds in 35 minutes for the Energy.
