
Santa Cruz Battles in Overtime But Falls to Birmingham, 126-120

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (7-12) fell to the Birmingham Squadron (10-7) on Thursday night in overtime, 126-120, in the team's final Hardwood Classics Night of the season at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Golden State Warriors Two-Way Guard Quinndary Weatherspoon led the Sea Dubs with 33 points and added seven rebounds. Forward Jerome Robinson added 27 points, five rebounds and five assists and guard Kalob Ledoux finished with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench.
Birmingham had all five starters in double figures and was led by guard Darius Adams with 32 points (8-16 3FG) and 15 rebounds. Guard Joe Young dished out a team-high seven assists to go along with 16 points.
The Squadron took the lead early in the first quarter thanks to 10 points from Ra'shad James to close out the quarter with a 37-23 lead over the Warriors. After being down by as many as 21 points in the first quarter, the Warriors closed the gap, heading into the quarter down by just one point, 57-56. The Warriors took their first lead of the game late in the third quarter, but the Squadron were able to keep the lead heading into the final frame with an 88-84 lead. Birmingham kept the lead throughout the fourth quarter, but Pemberton and the Warriors tied the game at 116 with a tip-in at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime. The Squadron dominated overtime to secure the win over the Warriors, 126-120.
