Nets Notch Fifth Consecutive Win against Lakeland

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Lakeland Magic 111-107 on Thursday night at Nassau Coliseum. Tonight's game marks Long Island's fifth consecutive victory.

Long Island forward Craig Randall II notched 35 points, five rebounds and three assists in 41 minutes. Nets guard Tyrone Wallace scored 23 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists in 41 minutes. Long Island center Adam Woodbury earned his second consecutive double-double, tallying 14 points and 12 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Long Island and Lakeland got off to a quick start in the first quarter, playing a close game until a big 3-point basket by Long Island forward Jordan Bowden put Long Island ahead, 19-17. The Nets ended the opening period up by seven, 28-21. Lakeland used the second quarter to its advantage to go on a 7-1 run in the first three minutes. Long Island fought hard to close the gap, but Lakeland's offensive prowess was too strong. The Magic went into the half up by three, 57-54.

Long Island came into the third quarter determined to battle back, as the Nets went on an 11-2 run to take the lead at the top of the quarter, 65-61. The Nets shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from distance to head into the final quarter ahead by seven, 79-72. Lakeland moved quickly in the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter to close the gap and tie the match, 94-94. Long Island refused to go down easy, breaking the tie to go on a 7-2 run that the Magic could not answer. The Nets maintained their lead to defeat Lakeland by four, 111-107.

Lakeland guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. tallied 27 points, three rebounds and four assists in 36 minutes. Magic guard Devin Cannady added 14 points and one assist in 20 minutes, while Lakeland forward Aleem Ford recorded 13 points and three rebounds in 37 minutes.

The Nets will play their next game at home against Motor City on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. ET, while the Magic will return home to face Fort Wayne on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. ET.
