Sanchez Stars in Double-A Debut, But Shrimp Lose in Extras

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville starter Sixto Sanchez fanned seven in six innings of one-hit ball on Tuesday, but the Jumbo Shrimp were nipped 2-1 by the Biloxi Shuckers from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

With the game scoreless into the 10th inning, Weston Wilson singled off Jacksonville (14-26) reliever Brett Graves (1-1) to plate Dillon Thomas for the game's first run. An error brought in another run to put Biloxi (19-20) ahead 2-0.

In the bottom of the 10th, Bryson Brigman notched an RBI single to get the Jumbo Shrimp within one. Corey Bird singled to put two men on, but Shuckers center fielder Trent Grishman made a diving catch on a Santiago Chavez line drive to end the game. Luke Barker earned his second save.

Sanchez fanned seven and yielded just one hit and two walks in his six innings of work. Jeff Kinley whiffed four batters in two shutout innings of relief.

Nate Griep (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win.

Tuesday's winning raffle number of 1276172008 won a prize of $69.

The Jumbo Shrimp and Shuckers conclude their series with Wednesday's 12:05 p.m. contest. RHP Jordan Yamamoto (2-3, 4.14 ERA) starts for Jacksonville against Biloxi's RHP Bowden Francis (0-3, 7.52 ERA). Coverage begins at 11:50 a.m. on MiLB.tv, Sunny 102.3 FM, TuneIn and JaxShrimp.com.

Wednesday's game is a Yuengling Business Person Special, meaning fans can purchase a package of a reserved seat, jumbo hot dog and 16 oz. Yuengling can (or small fountain soda) for just $15 at the Jumbo Shrimp box office.
