
Brewers Call up Top Prospect and Former Shucker Keston Hiura

BILOXI, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Tuesday the promotion of top prospect and former Biloxi Shuckers infielder Keston Hiura from Triple-A San Antonio to the 25-man roster. Hiura is batting .333 with 11 home runs over 37 games with the San Antonio Missions following his off-season promotion from Biloxi.
In 73 games with the Shuckers in 2018, Hiura slashed .272/.339/.416 with 18 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 20 RBI en route to a selection to the MLB Futures All-Star Team. During the Shuckers postseason run, Hiura hit .314 with three doubles, a home run and ten RBI. He followed up his season with an outstanding showing in the Arizona Fall League, slashing .323/.371/.563 in 23 games with Peoria Javelinas. The 22-year-old mashed five homers and collected 33 RBI and was named the Arizona Fall League MVP. With the Brewers at Major League Spring Training, he played in the 24 games, hitting three homers while the club with 14 RBI.
The Valencia, CA native was selected by the Brewers in the first round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft after a three-year playing career at University of California-Irvine where he led NCAA Division I hitters with a .442 average in 2017.
The Shuckers continue their five-game series with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday night at 6:05 pm CT from The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
