San Rafael Pacifics News Release

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The San Rafael Pacifics fell to the Sonoma County Grapes by a score of 5-4 in 11 innings on Monday night at Albert Park.

Chase Fontaine's throw on an attempted inning-ending double play in the top hall of the 11th sailed past first baseman Johnny Woodard, allowing the go-ahead run to score for the Grapes.

Newly acquired right-hander Chondell Jones made his first start for the San Rafael (29-20), and scattered nine hits in 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs in a serviceable outing, but left trailing 3-0.

In the seventh, Maikel Jova poked a go-ahead single to right scoring Steve Boggs (2 for 5, run) after doubles from Darrick Hale and Johnny Woodard in the San Rafael's four-run rally.

Jova - who was awarded a plaque commemorating his North American League record 37-game hit streak prior to the game - had just the one hit, and was in the process of being walked intentionally by Grapes reliever Joe Lewis. With a 2-0 count Lewis unleashed a wild pitch, allowing Boggs to score the tying run. The RBI for Jova was his team-leading 42nd of the season.

Pacifics catcher Jon Hurst added two more hits, and is now hitting .444 (8 for 18) over his last six games with four RBIs.

Jeff Lyons (2-3) earned the win with two innings of relief for Sonoma County (16-27). Matt Stabelfeld (2-2) took the tough-luck loss.

The Pacifics host the Grapes again on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. for Dominican University night and College Night. Tickets are available at www. Pacificsbaseball.com.
