Abilene Prairie Dogs News Release
ABILENE, TX - The Prairie Dogs made four moves on Tuesday afternoon, including welcoming former Prairie Dog Zach Crosswhite back to Walt Driggers Field. Crosswhite will take the place of backup catcher Davis Page who was traded to the McAllen Thunder for future consideration. In addition, the Prairie Dogs released left-handed pitcher Sean White and outfielder Austin Newell.
Crosswhite, whose month-long stint with Abilene ended with his release on July 27, will continue to backup Zach Welch behind the plate. Crosswhtie, a rookie from Temple, Texas, is 2-for-8 this season with the Dogs.
Newell was acquired from the White Sands Pupfish of the Pecos League on August 1. The lefty started three times in left field and went 3-for-8 with two runs scored and an R.B.I.
White made his professional debut when he took the hill in Abilene on August 1. The Southpaw fired four innings in a no decision against the Edinburg Roadrunners, yielding four runs on eight hits, Abilene lost the game 8-5. White made his final appearance with the Dogs last night, taking his first professional loss while allowing six runs on eight hits over three frames against San Angelo.
Page, acquired from San Angelo in a trade on July 21, was 8-for-36 with a pair of runs driven in. He appeared mostly behind the plate in a Dogs uniform but also started second and third base.
