Fort Worth Cats News Release
A strong pitching performance from Roadrunners' starter Miguel Martinez snapped Fort Worth's win streak at three Tuesday night in a Cats' 3-2 loss at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth.
The Cats got things started in the bottom of the first as C.J. Beatty, Chuck Caufield, and Chad Gabriel hit back-to-back-to back singles to grab an early 1-0 lead.
The Roadrunners answered back and got all the runs Martinez needed in the top of the second. Carlos Hereaud started the inning with a single and then came around to score on an RBI double by Derek Perren. A fielding error then allowed Felix Molina to reach and Perren to score from second. One out later, Osiel Flores drove in Molina with a single that gave Edinburg the 3-1 lead. That would be all the runs that Edinburg would need to snap their losing streak at three to remain in first place.
Edinburg starter, and league-leader in wins, Miguel Martinez pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and three walks while striking out four.
Cats' lefty James Giulietti pitched well but the second inning cost him as he was credited with the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, in seven and a third innings.
Scott Dalrymple was the only Cat to gain multiple hits as he went two-for-three to raise his batting average to over .200 for the first time this season.
The two teams face off again in the series finale at LaGrave Field Wednesday night at 7:05. It is Dollar Hot Dog Wednesday and tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
