San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes open the 2012 season at home as they host the New England Revolution at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. PT. The match will air live on Comcast SportsNet California, 1590 KLIV (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
Saturday's match will feature as part of the nightcap of a five-game first day of MLS First Kick 2012. San Jose aims to extend a club-record six-game sellout streak dating back to the final six home dates of 2011.
Bins will be located at each gate around Buck Shaw, as well as the Guest Services tent, for an equipment drive to collect donations for Quakes midfielder Jean-Marc Alexandre's youth soccer academy in Verrettes, Haiti. Fans who make a donation will receive a 2-for-1 voucher to attend a future Earthquakes game.
Quakes forward Chris Wondolowski, who has completed each of the past two seasons with at least a share of the MLS goal-scoring lead, will try to extend his current league-best active streak of five straight matches with at least one goal scored. San Jose as a team looks to earn its first season-opening victory since a 2-1 triumph at the Colorado Rapids on April 12, 2003. The Quakes have gone 0-5-1 in six openers since.
