San Antonio Takes Two against Northwest Arkansas

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Northwest Arkansas (30-17) played a doubleheader against the San Antonio Missions (20-28) on Saturday night due to the postponement last night. San Antonio took Game 1 by the score of 5-1 and Game 2 by the score of 5-2.

Game 1 Final: San Antonio 5 - Northwest Arkansas 1

The Naturals put a run on the board in the second inning of Game 1. Hunter Dozier connected on a one out double, his tenth of the year, and Zane Evans drove in Dozier on the very next pitch on a line drive to center field to give Northwest Arkansas a 1-0 lead.

San Antonio would take the lead in the top half of the sixth inning. Trea Turner singled with one out to score Luis Domoromo and Travis Jankowski. Diego Goris then singled to score Turner with two out to give San Antonio a 3-1 lead. San Antonio would complete the scoring with two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to set the final score at 5-1.

RHP Luke Farrell (0-1 4.66 ERA) took the loss for Northwest Arkansas after working 5.1 innings while giving up five hits, three runs, and no walks while striking out three. RHP Adam Cimber (1-1 1.88 ERA) got the win for San Antonio after working 3.0 innings of relief.

Game 2 Final: San Antonio 5 - Northwest Arkansas 2

The Missions struck first in the top of the half of the first inning as Alberth Martinez tripled to score Travis Jankowski, who had tripled to lead off the game. Trea Turner then singled to score Martinez, and Duanel Jones singled with two out to score Turner to give San Antonio an early 3-0. San Antonio would go to score another run in the fourth inning and another in the sixth inning for a 5-0 lead.

The Naturals would start to rally when pinch hitter Mike Bianucci smacked his tenth double of the season off of the San Antonio bullpen to score Micah Gibbs and Ethan Chapman to cut into the Missions' lead. The rally would end there and the final was 5-2.

RHP Christian Binford (0-2 4.42 ERA) took the loss while RHP Justin Hancock (5-1 2.02 ERA) got the win for San Antonio.

The first place Naturals will conclude their series and this current homestand against the San Antonio Missions (Double-A San Diego Padres) tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Celebrate Halloween in May at Arvest Ballpark on Sunday, May 31 on Kids Eat FREE Family Sunday. Kids 12 and under eat FREE at all Sunday home games and kids will have the opportunity to run the bases post-game as part of Family Sunday. It is also Halloween in May so the first 50 kids dressed up for the occasion that check into Guest Services will receive a prize while the Naturals staff will be passing out candy to kids as they exit the gates after the game.

In the finale, LHP Jonathan Dziedzic (1-3, 3.76 ERA) of the Naturals will face RHP Ryan Butler (0-2, 4.50 ERA) of the Missions.
