
Sam Kerr Selected to Australia's World Cup Squad

CHICAGO - The Federation Football Australia announced their squad for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, with Chicago forward Sam Kerr selected to the team. It will be her third World Cup following her participation in the 2011 and 2015 tournaments.
For Australia, Kerr set a national record by scoring 12 goals in seven successive games last year. In the 2018 Asian Cup Kerr notched three goals in five games en route to leading Australia to the Asian Cup Final and helped her nation qualify for this summer's World Cup. She has scored 31 goals in 76 appearances for the Matildas.
The Aussie has also lit up the National Women's Soccer League since her debut. She won the league's Golden Boot Award for the second consecutive year in 2018, scoring 16 goals in 20 matches. Last July she became the first player to score 50 career NWSL goals. This season with Chicago she has five goals in five matches played, bringer her career NWSL total to 63.
Kerr will report to national team duty after the Chicago Red Stars take on the Houston Dash on Sunday, May 19.
