Sam Huff Hits Two Home Runs in Big Win over Travelers

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Arkansas Travelers behind Sam Huff's huge night at the plate from Riders Field on Friday night.

The scoring began in the fifth when Jake Scheiner homered for Arkansas (50-44) to make it 1-0.

The Riders (54-39) countered in the bottom of the fifth when Huff hammered his first home run of the night, a solo shot, to tie the game at 1-1. A passed ball and a throwing error then scored Josh Stowers and Isaias Quiroz before Josh Smith singled in a run to put Frisco out in front 4-1.

In the seventh, Quiroz grounded an RBI single up the middle to pad the lead 5-1.

Davis Wendzel crushed a two-run home run in the eighth before Huff hit his second of the day back-to-back with Wendzel to make it 8-1.

Ronny Henriquez (4-3) earned the win, tossing six innings while allowing just one run and striking out six.

Brandon Williamson (1-4) took the loss, ceding four runs, two earned, over his 4.1 innings while striking out five and walking three.

The Riders and Travelers will meet on Saturday, August 21st with game five of the series beginning at 7:05 p.m. RHP Zak Kent (0-1, 1.50) will start for the RoughRiders against RHP George Kirby (0-0, 0.00).
