Springfield Cardinals News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield Cardinals and Wichita Wind Surge played seven scoreless innings before single runs in the eighth and ninth by the visitors handed the Cardinals a 2-0 loss on Saturday night at Hammons Field.
Cardinals starter Domingo Robles struck out five batters over 3.0 shutout, one-hit innings before exiting the game. Ramon Santos continued what was a dominant night for Cardinals pitchers, giving up just a single hit over one unearned run over 4.1 relief innings, striking out four and walking two. Santos was charged with the loss after a Wind Surge runner inherited by Jacob Bosiokovic scored in the eighth after advancing from first to third on a wild pickoff attempt at first base.
Delvin Perez was 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot, doubling to start the game and stealing his 21st base of the season. Malcom Nunez matched Perez with two hits. The Cardinals outhit the Wind Surge five to four.
