
Salty Dogs Arrive In Richmond

RICHMOND, VA â (Tuesday, July 6, 2004) â The Richmond Kickers (9-4-3, 30 points) will host the Syracuse Salty Dogs (4-7-3, 15 points) this Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond Stadium. The first 500 fans will receive a "Kickers jersey" koozie courtesy of Franco's Fine Clothiers.
The Kickers prevailed over the seventh-ranked Salty Dogs late last month in Syracuse, bringing home a 2-1 win. Richmond's star rookie forwards Matthew Delicâte and McColm Cephas tallied the pair of goals. Each recording a goal last weekend, Delicâte and Cephas once again led the Kickers to victory in an exciting 2-1 overtime decision over the Montreal Impact. Most recently, Syracuse suffered a 2-1 loss to the Virginia Beach Mariners last night.
"For the first time in two weeks, the whole squad is healthy and after a couple of days off, we are ready to take on Syracuse," says Kickers head coach Leigh Cowlishaw.
Kickers Sign New Zealand International Tim Brown
The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the latest addition to the roster, Wellington, New Zealand native, Tim Brown (#15). A 2004 University of Cincinnati graduate and soccer standout, Brown completed his collegiate career with the Bearcats as the second leading scorer with 15 points and six goals. He garnered 2004 first team All-Conference USA honors while being named a NSCAA Scholar All-America and a CoSIDA Academic All-American. In 2003, the 6'1" midfielder helped lead the Bearcats to a C-USA regular season championship as well as the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998. Over four seasons, Brown started all 71 of 71 games played, with 31 points total (12 g, 7 a) and represented the team as co-captain for three seasons.
Brown's experience extends to the national level as he recently was called up to the Senior New Zealand National Team for the Oceania Football Confederation Nation's Cup Tournament where he earned his first international cap on May 31st in a 3-0 win over the Soloman Islands. Named the Miramar Rangers U23 player of the year, Brown also made the initial 24-man New Zealand U23 squad for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Kickers: Garnering Team of the Week honors this week for the first time, rookie forward McColm Cephas is currently ranked third on the team in points (10) and goals (4). Midfielder Joey Worthen is not far ahead with 11 points and five goals, good for second on the team. Forward Matthew Delicâte has pulled away from his fellow point leaders, tallying six goals and four assists for 16 points. Leading the team in points, goals and assists, he is currently ranked sixth in the league in points and tied for seventh in goals. Goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale continues to lead the league with 83 saves. He is ranked fourth for his goals against average of .768.
Salty Dogs: Midfielder Christopher Dore is leading the Salty Dogs with 11 points and is tied for second in the league in assists with five, while forward Machel Millwood has recorded eight points (3 g, 2 a), good for second on the team. Goalkeeper Paul Nagy is tied for fifth in the league with six goals against and is ranked sixth for his goals against average of .762.
