WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Fans were treated to an offensive explosion in game three of six between the Winston-Salem Salsa and the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. The two sides combined for 24 runs and 28 hits, but the Salsa hung on, 13-11, Thursday night at Truist Stadium in front of 5,089 fans.

Winston-Salem (43-40) scored early and often in game three. In the bottom of the first with a pair of runners on base, catcher Michael Turner blasted his second homer of the season into the seats in right making it 3-0 out of the gates.

Jersey Shore (42-44) answered back quickly in the top of the second on a two-run home run from Anthony Quirion making it 3-2, but in the bottom of the third, the Salsa poured it on.

Following a pair of singles to lead off the frame, Tim Elko continued his tear at the plate. The 2022 10th round pick singled driving in two and building the lead back to three, 5-2. Turner then walked to put two runners on and Loidel Chapelli reached on an error loading the bases for Wes Kath. The third baseman wasted no time swinging at the first pitch and driving it into right for an RBI single plating turner making it a four-run game, 6-2.

The Salsa were not done there. After a sacrifice fly, single and a fielder's choice, Winston-Salem took a commanding 9-2 lead into the middle innings.

The two sides traded runs over the next three frames, but in the seventh with the Salsa leading 11-6, Colson Montgomery blasted his second long ball of the year over the high wall in right-center making it 13-6, but the BlueClaws came storming back.

Jersey Shore plated five runs in the eighth highlighted by a two-run homer from Hao-Yu Lee and an RBI triple from Gabriel Rincones Jr., cutting the Salsa lead to two, 13-11 prompting Winston-Salem manager Guillermo Quiroz to call on Wake Forest product, Eric Adler, for a four out save.

Adler finished off the eighth and after the Salsa went down in order in the bottom half, came back out for the ninth. After walking the leadoff man, and another runner reaching with one out, the Melbourne, Florida native beared down, and punched out the next two batters, finishing off the BlueClaws, 13-11.

Montgomery, Turner and Wilfred Veras all picked up multi-hit outings, with Montgomery and Turner both blasting home runs. With the win, Winston-Salem has ensured at least a series split heading into the final three games of the series.

The Dash and BlueClaws meet again on Friday night. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. from Truist Stadium.
