Salmon Kings' Labelle Returns To The American Hockey League

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that right winger Olivier Labelle has been recalled to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.

Labelle has collected 16 points (10g-6a) and 45 minutes in penalties in 17 games for the Salmon Kings this season.

The St. Eustache, QC native signed with the Manitoba Moose in the offseason after spending last year under contract to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. He began the 2008-09 season by attending the Chicago Blackhawks' training camp and then attended the Moose training camp as well.

Last season the 23-year-old played the majority of the season with the Utah Grizzlies where he produced professional highs in goals (26), assists (22), points (48) and penalty minutes (169). During the Grizzlies playoff run to the ECHL's National Conference Final he played in 15 games collecting 11 points (4g-7a) while picking up 33 minutes in penalties.

In 2007-08 Labelle participated in the New York Islanders' training camp where he played in two exhibition games. The 2006-07 season saw Labelle spend the season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. In 74 games he notched 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points while collecting 153 minutes in penalties.

The Salmon Kings roster now sits at 20 players (11 forwards, 7 defensemen and 2 goalies).

The Salmon Kings kick off a 14-day road trip Wednesday in Utah with puck drop at 6:05 p.m. PST. The Kings return home on December 9th when Bakersfield comes to town for a single game. Tickets are still available call 250-220-7777.
