DUBUQUE, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints (15-5-1-2, 33 pts) erased a three-goal deficit in the final two periods to beat the Des Moines Buccaneers (9-10-4-0, 22 pts) 6-3 in Dubuque on Friday night.

After the Buccaneers took a 3-0 lead at the 8:20 mark of the second period, Nick Romeo forced his way through the Des Moines' defense to power a backhand in for the Saints first goal just 20 seconds later. The momentum-shifting goal began a six-goal barrage the rest of the way for Dubuque.

Dubuque still trailed 3-2 entering the third period after Colin Frank's fifth of the season later in the second, but opened the final period by scoring twice in the first 1:51 of the frame. Lucas St. Louis tied the game 1:03 in with his sixth of the season before Chase LaPinta, in his second back after missing 11, scored the game-winner just 48 seconds later. St. Louis added his second of the night on the power-play later in the period.

Jake Sondreal scored his 12th of the season for the Saints final goal of the night, their third power-play tally of their four-goal third period.

The comeback-win was the Saints' second this season when trailing 3-0 in a game, with the other coming in Waterloo against the Black Hawks on Nov. 17.

Kevin Reidler made 28 of 31 saves in his 12th win of the season, the second-most in the USHL.

The Fighting Saints are back in action on Saturday in their first matchup of the season against the Madison Capitols.
