Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The Sioux Falls Stampedewas able to chop down the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Teddy Bear Toss Night at the PREMIER Center. JJ Wiebusch tallied two goals, while Hayden Reid, Grant Dillard and Tyler Borgula all added goals towards the Stampede's 5-3 win.

Hayden Reid unleashed the teddy bears just 2:59 into the first period for his second goal of the season, assisted by Egor Barabanov. This goal sent teddy bears, which will be donated to local non-profit organizations for the holidays, flying to the ice. Muskegon then went on to score two goals before the Herd's JJ Wiebusch found his 11th of the season with 45 seconds remaining. Helping Wiebusch with assists were John McNelis and Alex Rybakov. The game was sent into the first intermission tied up at two goals each.

In the second, the Herd was able to pull ahead with a goal from Grant Dillard at the 7:13 mark, assisted by defenseman Artur Cholach. Aside from Dillard's goal, the only additional action came in the form of penalties and powerplays. Tyler Borgula and Muskegon's Cameron Aucoin were served with coincidental minors for roughing at the 8:59 mark, while Muskegon's Filip Nordberg and the Herd's Kaz Sobieski each earned their own later in the period. The Stampede outshot the Lumberjacks 10-6 in the second, a change from being outshot in the first 18-8.

Muskegon found a goal to tie the game 2:34 into the third frame. A penalty on Muskegon's David Klee was just the spark JJ Wiebusch needed to find the back of the net for the second time in the game. Assisted by Gennadi Chaly and Tyler Borgula, Wiebusch's goal put the Herd up 4-3 with 6:27 to play in the game. After an impressive series of saves by Michael Chambre with under a minute to play, Borgula was able to secure the puck and send it across the ice to cement the Herd's win with the empty net goal.

Earning his eighth win of the season, Michael Chambre tallied 25 saves with a 3.00 goals-against average. Now 8-3-1-1 this season, he hosts a 2.82 goals-against average and a .889 cumulative save percentage.

The Herd and Lumberjacks meet again tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. at the PREMIER Center for Star Wars Night. More info on December's promotional nights, including Star Wars Night, is available on the Stampede website.
