Madison Capitols News Release
The Capitols are set to face off host the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Cedar Rapids for a weekend filled with hockey at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena. Instead of the traditional Friday-Saturday home stand, it will be a Saturday-Sunday one.
Saturday is Wisconsin Night presented by New Glarus Brewing Company where the Caps will rebrand for the night to the Wisconsin IceHoles. We'll have specials on all things Wisconsin from beer to brats to cheese curds to OLD FASHIONEDS, we will have it all. Then, Sunday is the return of our Post Game Skates. You'll have the opportunity to meet the team and get autographs from all of your favorite players.
On Saturday, the Saints of Dubuque come to town for the first time this season. The matchup between the Caps and Saints will be the first of four this season, two at each home venue.
Dubuque will enter Saturday after hosting Des Moines on Friday night. They sit in a tie entering Friday with Green Bay Gamblers for first in the conference. After a hot start to the year, the Fighting Saints are looking to bounce back after dropping three of their last four games. Two of those three losses came at the hands of the Buccaneers, who they will face for the fourth time in five games Friday.
Both teams in this game will be plagued by national team play. Finn Brink and Will Felicio for the Capitols and James Reeder for the Fighting Saints have made their way to Nova Scotia to compete for the US in the World Junior A Challenge, which kicks off on Monday for them. Madison will also lose forward Rainers Rullers prior to Sunday's game as he travels to Sweden to play in the World Junior Championships.
While on the topic of Sunday's game, the Capitols will welcome in the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for the first meeting of the two teams this season. Madison swept a preseason series between the two teams, but movement on both rosters have this series being a completely new battle.
The RoughRiders enter a two-game series on Friday night against Youngstown sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Cedar Rapids is an astounding 6-2-0-1 on the road this season while only 1-8-2-0 at home. Their series at Youngstown is a two-game home stand before traveling to Madison on Sunday.
Puck drop on Saturday is scheduled for 7:05 pm and on Sunday at 3:05 pm. Tickets are still available for both dates at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
Following the action packed weekend of hockey, the Capitols are back at home on Saturday, December 16th, to face off against the RoughRiders once again. The 16th is our annual Teddy Bear Toss game presented by Canopy Wealth Management. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
