Saints GM Honored as Forty Under Forty Award Winner

ST. PAUL, MN (May 17, 2007) - It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to run a baseball organization and for St. Paul Saints General Manager Derek Sharrer his work hasn't gone unnoticed Sharrer was named an award winner for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's 40 Under Forty Award Winner.

The Business Journal's editors selected this year's honorees based on professional achievements, community service and diversity. The 37 year-old Sharrer enters his fourth season with the Saints and has kept them atop the Northern League and American Association in attendance while garnering national attention for the club with off-the-wall promotions.

"Derek has superior leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and energize a staff under challenging circumstances," said Saints Owner Marv Goldklang. "He has been a go-to person for his peers and because of his great leadership each of the clubs he has served as General Manager for have been recognized for superior accomplishments and achieved record-attendance levels."

Under Sharrer's leadership the Saints were named Baseball America's 2006 Independent Baseball Organization of the Year. Sharrer is a big part of the St. Paul/Minneapolis community and belongs to many different organizations including Rotary Club of Downtown St. Paul and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Sharrer and his wife, Kandice, live in Woodbury, MN with their two sons Sullivan, 4, and Lawson, 2.
