After four innings of scoreless baseball, the Shreveport Sports picked up four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. Sports RF Juan Ventura had a strong night, finishing the game a homerun shy of the cycle. Ventura also scored twice and batted in two runs on a triple in the fifth. The Sports pitching staff also had an impressive night. Starter Matt Yeatman allowed one run on six hits over seven innings and out of the bullpen, Leo Tyson and Mal Winters pitched one inning each of hitless baseball. With the win, the Sports are remain within one game of the South Division lead with a record of 4-3.

St. Paul 11, St. Joe 0

The St. Paul Saints took advantage of two homeruns to hammer the Blacksnakes Thursday night. With the Saints leading 1-0 in the third and the bases loaded, Brent Krause gave St. Paul a bit more breathing room when he knocked a St. Joe starting pitcher Brian Buchanan pitch over the outfield wall for a grand slam. Over the next four innings, the Saints scored six more runs, highlighted by a Ben Thomas homerun in the fourth. St. Paul starting pitcher Jacob Postlewait had his second impressive performance of the young season, pitching seven innings, allowing no runs on five hits.

The Cats proved Thursday that they finish the games for a reason. Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Fort Worth scored four runs to tie the game. Trailing 5-6 in the bottom of the 10th, the Cats scored two runs to win the game. Tim Wojcik knocked in B.J. Dubarry for the winning run. After entering in the scheduled final inning, Fort Worth reliever Lee Gwaltney picked up his first win of the season, pitching two innings while surrendering one run on one Saltdogs hit. For Lincoln, Jay Yaconetti went 2-5 and knocked in two runs in the losing effort.

El Paso 6, Coastal Bend 2

The El Paso Diablos lead from the start in their victory over the Aviators Thursday night. CF Kory Drew lead the way for El Paso, going 2-3 on the night with an RBI and two runs of his own. Diablos starter Josh Neitz improved to a .500 record on the season with eight innings of impressive pitching. Neitz allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four Aviators batters. Reliever Evan Neiser replaced Neitz in the ninth and put the nail in the Aviators coffin with a 1-2-3 inning. At 5-2 on the season, El Paso continues to sit atop the league's South Division, a game ahead of 4-3 Shreveport.

Sioux Falls 8, Sioux City 6

Sioux City, IA. Time: 3:11 Attendance: 1845

The Canaries used late-inning heroics to nab a come-from-behind victory over the Explorers. Scoring three in the eighth and one in the ninth, Sioux Falls set the stage for Jerrod Fuell to pick up his league-leading fifth save of the season. The Canaries got all of their eighth-inning runs on a three-run homer off the bat of CF James Shanks. Shanks went 3-5 on the night with an impressive five RBI. LF Van Iderstin also went 3-5 and scored two runs of his own.
