ST. PAUL, MN (May 14, 2009) - Parades, bands and fanfare are all elements of an Opening Night in baseball. This season the St. Paul Saints will have all that plus a night of appreciation for the military courtesy of Cub Foods and AUSA on Tuesday, May 19.
Cub Foods and AUSA have partnered to support this event for another season. They have contributed is many ways to make this event a wonderful evening for all involved. Cub Foods, once again, has purchased 3,000 tickets for the game, which will be given to Minnesota servicemen and women, and their families while AUSA has coordinated much of what makes the evening's ceremonies special to those same families.
"Cub Foods is proud to partner with the St. Paul Saints to honor military members serving our country at home and abroad," said Brett Wing, Cub Foods Vice President of Marketing. "Year after year, Military Appreciation Night gathers military families together as a community for an evening of fun for the entire family."
While many military members and their families will be at the ballpark, troops overseas will be tuned into the Saints game that night via the internet courtesy of iBN Sports.
The evening will include all the pomp and circumstance of Opening Day including the colors provided by the University of Minnesota Army ROTC Color Guard. The National Anthem will be sung by Myrnell Bruseguard.
"Our partners at Cub Foods and AUSA are instrumental in making our Opening Day special," said Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Derek Sharrer.
