Saint Louis FC News Release
LAST TIME OUT: For 42 minutes on Wednesday night, Saint Louis withstood and countered a number of attacks by the LA Galaxy II. In the 43rd minute, Los Dos midfielder Jaime Villarreal was able to thread a pass to Jack McBean, who got behind the back line, avoided diving goalkeeper Mark Pais and scored on a wide open goal. Two minutes later, Byram Rebellon fired a shot from the arc just outside the box which ricocheted off the near post and into the back of the net. It marks the second consecutive game Saint Louis gave up a goal in the closing minutes of a half after falling to the Real Monarchs 1-0 from an added time goal in 90thminute.
The Galaxy were able to add a third goal in the 58th minute when McBean bent a free kick into the net to record his second goal of the evening and seal a 3-0 victory for the home side.
Saint Louis would finish the night with eight shots, only one of which was on goal and accumulated two yellow cards. Midfielder Jacob Bushue was whistled for a hard tackle in the 57th minute, leading to McBean's free kick and goal, and defender AJ Cochran earned his booking in the 74th minute.
THE OPPONENT: The Orange County Blues fell to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in their home and season opener 1-0 on Saturday, March 26. The loss ended their five-game regular season unbeaten streak dating back to last season.
