The Flames enter the week ranked fourth in the Canadian Division with 45 points and a record of 20 wins, 30 losses, 4 ties and 1 overtime loss.

Saint John hosts the St. John's Maple Leafs this week for games on Wednesday and Friday and then hosts the Portland Pirates on Saturday.

THE OPPONENT...

The ST. JOHN'S MAPLE LEAFS enter the week ranked third in the Canadian Division with 48 points and a record of 21-31-5-1. The Maple Leafs, 7-2-1-0 in their last ten games, are coming off a 9-0 loss at Binghamton on Saturday.

These will be the ninth and tenth of twelve meetings between the Canadian Division rivals this season. Leading St. John's are left wing Brad Boyes (21g- 25a=46pts) and centres Brad Leeb (26g- 18a=44pts), Josh Holden (17g-21a=38pts) and Alexei Ponikarovsky (17g-18a=35pts).

Jamie Hodson and Mikael Tellqvist handle the goaltending duties for St. John's. Tellqvist, 11-20-3 through 36 games, posts a 3.48 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Hodson, 3-2-1 through 9 games, posts a 2.69 GAA and a .919 save percentage.

Entering the week, Tellqvist ranked second among AHL goaltenders in losses (2), fifth in minutes played (2037) and second in total saves (1153).

Boyes entered the week ranked second among League rookies in points (46) and goals (21) and first among rookies in shots (152) and defenceman Anders Eriksson entered the week ranked 15th among AHL blueliners in points (3g-27a=30pts).

The PORTLAND PIRATES enter the week ranked third in the North Division with 64 points and a record of 26-19-7-5. The Pirates, 3-4-3-0 in their last ten games, are coming off an 8-4 win at Hershey on Saturday.

Friday's game will be the sixth of ten meetings between the teams this season. Leading Portland are centres Trent Whitfield (20g-29a=49pts) and Chris Ferraro (11g-25a=36pts), left wings Colin Forbes (19g-25a=44pts) and Graham Mink (20g- 13a=33pts) and right wing Peter Ferraro (18g-31a=49pts).

Maxime Ouellet and Rastislav Stana handle the netminding responsibilities for the Pirates. Ouellet, through 34 games, posts an 18-10-4 record with a 2.22 GAA and a .935 save percentage. Stana, through 13 appearances, is 5-7-1 with a 2.57 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

Entering the week, Whitfield and Peter Ferraro ranked tied for 18th among League scoring leaders with 49 points each, Whitfield ranked tied for first in short-handed goals (5), Ouellet ranked fourth among League netminders with a 2.22 GAA, tied for third in wins (18), fourth in saves (1058) and first in shutouts (7). Stana ranked fifth among AHL goaltenders with a .926 save percentage and Josef Boumedienne ranked ninth among League defencemen in points (6g-27a=33pts).

Flames defenceman Jayme Filipowicz played his 100th career AHL game on Saturday versus Manchester. Saint John defenceman Micki DuPont, assigned by Calgary on Saturday, collected 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) versus Lowell on Sunday.

Sam St. Pierre & J.F. Boutin, forwards who began the season with Saint John's ECHL affiliate, the Johnstown Chiefs, signed PTOs with Saint John on Sunday.

Flames defenceman Mike Mottau recorded 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) in the Flames 3-3 tie at Lowell on Sunday.

Flames right wing Chuck Kobasew (2 goals) and left wing Martin Sonnenberg (2 assists) recorded multiple points for Saint John in Friday's 3-2 win versus Manchester.

ALUMNI WATCH...

Former Flame Eric Healey recorded a hat trick Saturday versus Saint John at Harbour Station. Of note, prior to Saturday's game, the last hat trick recorded against the Flames at Harbour Station was December 21, 2002, also by Healey.
