Former Spitfire Eric Locke scored a pair of goals, leading the Spirit to a 5-1 win over the Spitfires in Saginaw on Friday night.

The home side scored four goals in an 8:10 span of the first period before Brady Vail cut the lead to 4-1, with his 21st of the season on a 5-on-3 power play at 14:40.

Jordan DeKort came on in relief of John Cullen to begin the second period. Cullen allowed four goals on just 11 shots.

The teams played a scoreless second period, in which DeKort made six stops.

Michael Fine's 22nd goal of the season rounded out the scoring at 3:50 of the third period.

The loss, combined with a Guelph win over Owen Sound knocked the Spits back into eighth place in the Western Conference with just one game left to play.

Their first-round opponent will be determined on Saturday night, as the Spitfires take on the Greyhounds in the Soo and the Storm visit the Attack in Owen Sound.
