
Spirit Defeat Kitchener 4-3 on St. Patty's Day

On Saturday night, Spirit fans filled The Dow Event Center on St. Patrick's Day! Fans got to witness a special addition Jersey and post -game auction of the Spirit's green jerseys! All donations would be going to Saginaw Rescue Ministries and the Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation. Prior to the auction, the Spirit would come from behind to defeat Kitchener by a score of 4-3. Scoring for Spirit was spread out amongst four players: Dalton Young, Carlos Amestoy, Brandon Saad and Jimmy Lodge.
Kitchener would set the tone of the game in the first period. At 1:21, Max Iafrate landed himself a short-handed goal. Tobias Reider and Ben Thomson assisted Iafrates goal. Then, 15:44 into the period, Dalton Young would land his fifth goal of the season on a wrist shot to tie the game. Josh Shalla and Michael Fine would assist Young's goal. Moments later Kitchener's Josh Sterk would score to regain the lead by a goal. Kitchener's goal would conclude the first period battle.
Carlos Amestoy would fire up the crowd in the second period. 2:52 in the period he would tie the game 2-2 by landing himself his ninth goal of the season short-handed. Kitchener's Tyler Randell would score at the 4:34 mark, sliding one past Saginaw goalie, Jake Paterson, on the power play to regain the lead 3-2. Tobias Reider and Radek Faska would assist Randell's goal. At the 16:37 mark, Brandon Saad would net his 34th goal of the season to tie the game 3-3.
Early in the third period, Jimmy Lodge would intercept a pass and score his eighth goal of the season to put the Spirit on top 4-3. Despite pulling their goalie for the final minute of the game, the Rangers would fall to the Saginaw Spirit in the final regular season game of the season by the score of 4-3.
