Oshawa Generals News Release

Ontario - Oshawa couldn't hit their stride against Mississauga on Saturday night. They fell 3-0 to the Majors before a crowd of 5,125 at the General Motors Centre. 3 power play goals and a shutout performance by Brandon Maxwell proved to be the difference (the Majors power play went 3/5 on the night). The Generals started the game with a hard edge, but never could generate enough dangerous scoring opportunities on Maxwell who earned his 4th shutout in his past 8 games. With Belleville's 2-0 win over Sudbury, the Generalswill finish in 8th place and face the 1st place Niagara IceDogs in the first round of the playoffs. Prior to puck drop, the Generals honoured Andy Andreoff, who is now the franchise leader in games played. Andreoff surpassed James DeLory's benchmark of 276 in Oshawa's March 11th victory over Brampton. Once again, congratulations Andy! In the first period, Oshawa's energy was spoiled by Mississauga's power play efficiency; the Majors went 2/3 in the frame from Mika Partanen and Dylan DeMelo. ight through a sea of skates and slipped through Bailie's 5-hole. After 1, the Majors had a 2-0 lead. In the final frame, Mississauga converted on the power play when Spenser Cobbold scored en route to a 3-0 victory. The Generals outshot the Majors 25-20, and Andy Andreoff picked up the third star selection in the loss. Tomorrow, Sunday March 18th at 6:05 PM, the Generals conclude the regular season at home when they battle arch rival Peterborough at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. The Generals have a chance to go 8-and-0 and sweep the Petes this season.
