
Saginaw Prepares for Final Two Home Games After High-Scoring Contest in Sault Ste. Marie

The Spirit traveled to Sault Ste. Marie to take on their Western Conference rivals, the Soo Greyhounds, for a Friday night OHL contest. In the first game back after a difficult week within the Spirit organization, Saginaw was defeated by Sault Ste. Marie by a score of 6-5.
Sault Ste. Marie jumped on the board first to take a 1-0 lead when Bryan Moore finished off a nifty goal that was set up by Sergey Tolchinsky and Colton White with twelve minutes remaining in the first period. The Greyhounds went up 2-0 on the Spirit after Sergey Tolchinsky fired home a goal that was assisted by Bryan Moore and Jared McCann with nine minutes left in the period. The Greyhounds added to their lead with six seconds left in the first period when Jorgen Karterud found the back of the net with an assist being credited to Alex Gudbranson to go up 3-0.
Saginaw cut into Sault Ste. Marie's lead when Jacob Ringuette netted a goal to make it 3-1 four minutes into the second period that was assisted by Justin Sefton and Nick Moutrey. The Greyhounds made it a 4-1 game when Bryan Moore lit the lamp for his second goal of the night that was assisted by Jared McCann and Sergey Tolchinsky with twelve minutes remaining in the period. Sault Ste. Marie notched their fifth goal of the game with seven minutes left in the period when Jorgen Karterud scored his second goal of the night that was set up by Tyler Ganly and Michael Bunting. The Spirit's Justin Kea fired home his twentieth goal of the season with one minute remaining in the second period that was assisted by Jacob Ringuette and Eric Locke to make it a 5-2 game.
Saginaw's Luke Cairns sniped an unassisted goal with eight minutes left in the game to make it a 5-3 game in favor of Sault Ste. Marie. The Spirit's Mitchell Stephens put home a backhand goal that was assisted by Brandon Prophet and Justin Sefton with 1:40 left in the third period to make it a 5-4 game. Sault Ste. Marie struck right back when Charley Graaskamp netted his first career OHL goal with one minute remaining in the game that was assisted by Keigan Goetz and Jorgen Karterud to go up 6-4 on the Spirit. Saginaw's Justin Kea jammed home a rebound for his second goal of the night with 27 seconds left in the game to make it 6-5, which is how the game ended.
