Saginaw Falls on Road to Kingston 5-3

On Sunday afternoon, the Saginaw Spirit fell to the Kingston Frontenacs by the score of 5-3. Scoring for the Spirit were Josh Shalla, Steven Strong, and Vince Trocheck.

The Frontenacs struck first on Sunday afternoon when Ryan Spooner added his eighth goal of the season, shorthanded, to put Kingston up 1-0.

The score would remain 1-0 until two minutes into the second period when Josh Shalla would score his third of the season and second goal in two games, to tie the game. Just one minute later, Kingston's Petr Beranek fired a shot past Spirit goaltender Jake Paterson to put Kingston right back on top 2-1. Shortly thereafter, Kingston would find themselves on the power play and they would convert another goal, this time off the stick of Tyler Brown to stretch their lead to 3-1. Ten minutes later, still in the second period, Brown would tally his second of the game, putting Kingston up 4-1 heading into the second intermission.

Saginaw would return to the ice in the third period with Tadeas Galansky taking over the duties in net for the Spirit. Kingston would score once again on the power play, five minutes into the third, as Petr Beranek put in his second goal of the afternoon. A little under two minutes later Saginaw would respond with a goal from Steven Strong, his first in a Spirit uniform to pull the game to 5-2. Vince Trocheck would net his 12th goal of the season to get the Spirit within two goals of the Frontenacs but that's as close as Saginaw would get on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-3 in Kingston.
